Iowa's cattle producers are family farmers and there are nearly 30,000 of them across the state. These families come together through events like the Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show to help their neighbor in need.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa keeps families with sick children close to each other with the care and resources they need.

  • Over 52,000 families served since 1981 from 50 states and 64 foreign countries. RMH Charities have served nearly 41,000 families in Iowa.

  • Since 1983 the Governor's Charity Steer Show has donated over $5.1 million to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

  • Steer owners and their families spend a day volunteering at the Des Moines Ronald McDonald house

The Iowa Cattle Industry:

  • Ranks 4th in the country for cattle on feed

  • Nearly 3.85 million cattle in Iowa

  • 19,171 farms with beef cows

  • About 32,375 Iowa jobs are related to the cattle industry

  • Iowa's cattle industry contributed $7.32 billion to Iowa's economy in 2021.
